How To Generate Your XML Sitemap
Configure Settings
Enter your root website URL. Select your desired crawl limits, and customize advanced options like change frequency, priority, or specific inclusion paths.
Start the Crawl
Click generate. Our secure server will act as a search engine bot, visiting your internal pages, extracting links, and mapping out your entire site architecture.
Download & Submit
Once complete, instantly download your ready-to-use sitemap.xml file. Upload it to your root directory and submit it via Google Search Console.
Premium Crawler Features
Batched Safe Crawl
To protect server integrity, our crawler works in small, rate-limited batches with parallel requests. Sites of up to 500 pages are mapped completely without ever overloading a server or timing out.
Advanced Routing Rules
Take full control over your crawl map. Use wildcard inclusion and exclusion paths to keep sensitive directories, tags, or author archives out of your final sitemap.
Query String Stripping
Prevent duplicate content warnings in Google Search Console. Our tool automatically normalizes URLs and strips messy URL parameters (like session IDs) with a single click.
What is an XML Sitemap?
An XML (Extensible Markup Language) sitemap is essentially a roadmap of your website specifically designed for search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo. It lists all your important URLs, helping web crawlers discover and index your content faster and more intelligently.
While search engines can discover pages through standard internal linking, an XML sitemap ensures that deep, newly published, or isolated (orphaned) pages are not missed. It also provides bots with critical metadata, such as when a page was last updated.
Core SEO Benefits
- Faster Indexing: Newly published articles and products are discovered immediately.
- Deep Crawling: Ensures complex site architectures are fully mapped.
-
Freshness Signals: The
<lastmod>tag tells Google when to recrawl updated content.
XML Sitemap Best Practices for 2026
Only 200 OK Pages
Never include URLs that return 404 errors, 301 redirects, or 500 server errors. Your sitemap should only contain live, indexable content.
Exclude Noindex URLs
If a page has a noindex meta tag or is blocked by your robots.txt file, keep it out of your XML sitemap to avoid sending conflicting signals.
Canonical URLs Only
If you have duplicate pages or parameters (like sorting filters), only include the primary, canonical URL you actually want ranking on Google.
Keep Under Limits
Google requires standard sitemaps to contain no more than 50,000 URLs and be under 50MB uncompressed. Split larger sites into multiple sitemap indexes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Live web crawling requires significant server memory and processing power. To ensure fast performance and prevent our servers from timing out, this free browser-based tool limits each crawl to 500 pages. If your site has more than 500 URLs, we recommend using dedicated desktop software or splitting your sitemaps by category directories using our "Include Paths" advanced option.
First, click the download button and upload the sitemap.xml file to your website's root directory (e.g., yoursite.com/sitemap.xml). Next, log into your Google Search Console dashboard, navigate to "Sitemaps" on the left menu, paste the URL of your sitemap, and click "Submit." Google will schedule a crawl of your newly submitted links.
If pages are missing, it usually means they are "orphaned" (no internal links point to them) or hidden behind JavaScript/AJAX calls that our standard crawler cannot execute. To fix this, ensure every page you want indexed is linked somewhere in your site's navigation or footer. Alternatively, check if you accidentally typed restrictions in the "Exclude Paths" setting.
Generally, no. Including URLs with query parameters often creates duplicate content issues in Search Console. A sitemap should only contain your clean, canonical URLs. We highly recommend checking the "Strip Query Strings" box in the Advanced Options before generating your sitemap to automatically clean your URLs.
Google has officially stated that they mostly ignore the <priority> and <changefreq> tags, relying on their own algorithms to determine how often to crawl your site. However, other search engines like Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo may still use these hints. Including them doesn't hurt your SEO, but the <lastmod> (Modified Date) tag is the most critical attribute you should focus on.
